Hasselt is a cosy, green and easy-to-navigate student city where you'll feel at home in no time. It combines a laid-back atmosphere with a lively town centre. You'll find students mainly around the UHasselt campuses (Diepenbeek and city centre) and PXL University of Applied Sciences, but also right in the heart of town around Dusartplein and the shopping streets. Everything's close by, which creates a real sense of community.
Absolutely. Hasselt has a buzzing student life, with plenty of societies, events and cantussen. In the centre, you'll find loads of cosy cafés and bars where students hang out. It's lively, yet still easy-going and accessible.
Hasselt is easy to reach by train and bus, with good connections to Genk, Leuven and Antwerp. Once you're in the city, getting from your kot to campus or the centre is quick and easy - Hasselt is compact and bike-friendly, which makes the bike the go-to way to get around here too.
After class, you can unwind in Kapermolenpark, visit the Japanese Garden, or grab a drink on Dusartplein. Sports lovers are well catered for too, with various sports facilities and events throughout the year. Hasselt offers a great balance between studying, relaxing and enjoying student life together.
